Electronic Charting - The Hidden Dangers

Mariners are becoming increasingly reliant on complex technology and now the paper chart, considered for centuries as a cornerstone of navigation, is under threat from the Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) and its host the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS). This paper attempts to highlight some of the 'uncharted' dangers that may lie ahead.
